For several years, ICR has been focused on building connections between youth food justice programs throughout CT. In building these connections, opportunities to learn from youth in other states are critically important. Every year, the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Working Group (NESAWG) hosts its flagship event, the It Takes a Region conference, to allow participants from across the 12 state USDA northeast region to connect and learn together. This conference creates space for farmers, teachers, researchers, and this year youth, to discuss topics of interest to the work they are doing. This year’s conference will take place in Hartford, CT from November 10-12. The youth track, planned in part by ICR staff, will feature workshop sessions and networking opportunities for young people (age 14-24) to showcase the work being done by young hands and minds throughout the region.
Early bird registration opens on August 8 on the NESAWG website. Check out the youth track page and register your group to attend, or keep an eye out for the request for youth-led session proposals at the end of the summer.
