Violence-Free Zone

As a part of the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) and Violence-Free Zone initiatives to address the challenge of violence in Hartford’s 06210 zip code area, this summer youth participatory action research (YPAR) program worked with local teenagers to begin to develop youth engagement and leadership to contribute to the MBK community response effort. Seven participating youth were trained in basic research methods to facilitate a community assets assessment of the 06210 area. Their effort sought to highlight the resources that might support the prevention of violence in their community.
