Provider Supplement to the Female Condom project
This 1-year supplement to “Sustained Safer Behaviors in High-Risk Women to Prevent HIV” targeted Clinical Health Care Providers (CHCP) practicing in community and hospital-based outpatient primary care health centers and clinics in Hartford. The study explored CHCP as potential barriers to and facilitators of female condom use among high-risk women and men. This supplemental study was designed to identify specific intrapersonal, social/cultural, and organizational barriers CHCP face that limit their ability and/or willingness to introduce and promote the female condom during clinical encounters. The study used a combination of quantitative and qualitative interviews to accomplish these aims.
